Ask The Experts | Helping Families Navigate ADHD
In the young adult novel, Peta Lyre’s Rating Normal, the titular character makes this astounding observation: “Nothing escapes my alphabet powers. It’s exhausting.” The alphabet to which Peta was referring included just four letters: ADHD. Indeed, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder can be exhausting for a child with a racing mind, impulsivity, and difficulty internalizing and enacting guidelines. And for the parents trying to impose normal rulemaking and household routines in rearing and loving such a child can be utterly frustrating and overwhelming. This edition of “Ask the Experts” delves into ADHD and actionable strategies for parents and the children they’re rearing.
